Hi! My name is Yeon-ok – hence ‘yawningtree’ – but most of my friends call me Yenn. I am a two-year-old PhD student in the Department of Politics and International Relations at Royal Holloway University of London. Before coming ‘back’ to the UK, I lived in France from 2002 to 2004 and obtained a DEA, a pre-doctoral degree, in Information and Communication Sciences from l’Université Stendhal-Grenoble III.
My research interests centre on the socio-political impact of new communication technologies, particularly the Internet. My thesis discusses online mobilisation and identity building with a focus on Korean contexts.
This blog was originally intended to be a serious academic presence, but Naaah, who am I kidding? 😉 Anyway, as I am starting this at the worst possible moment, when I am supposed to do post-fieldwork data analyses instead (tut, tut), it may be for a while before it takes shape.
Meanwhile, feel free to email me at yawningtree at googlemail dot com if you have any questions, comments, and advice.
Hello Yeon Ok! How are you? I was surprised to see my blog on your blogroll. Having been in France – how romantic! Will visit your blog from time to time. Cheers!
