A peculiarly global day for me. Woke up at 3:30 (in the morning!) to speak through Skype to a class of postgraduate students in Canberra about online qualitative methods. In the afternoon, the 2013 edition of the Freedom on the Net report, a project that I have contributed to, has officially been released, with the launch event in Washington DC watched on YouTube and discussed in real time on Twitter (#FOTN2013).
After all this ‘bi-locating’, it is dawning on me now how far things have changed in society. Even for someone engaged in the fast-paced field of digital media studies, it is quite a dazzling leap, come to think of it.
