George W. Bushisms

Bought a George W. Bushisms 2007 Calendar. A couple of entries that have hit me personally.

5 Jan

“The administration I’ll bring is a group of men and women who are focused on what’s best for America, honest men and women, decent men and women, women who will see service to our country as a great privilege and who will not stain the house.” (Des Moines, Iowa; 15 Jan 2000)

12 Jan

“And I am an optimistic person. I guess if you want to try to find something to be pessimistic about, you can find it, no matter how hard you look, you know?” (Washington, D.C.; 15 Jun 2004)

13/14 Jan

“It’s important for us to explain to our nation that life is important. It’s not only life of babies, but it’s life of children living in, you know, the dark dungeons of the Internet.” (Arlington Heights, Illinois; 24 Oct 2000)

Nothing like my favourite of last year’s, “They misunderestimated me.”, so far. Still, 2 pounds well spent.

  1. “As a matter of fact, I know relations between our governments is good.”—On U.S.-South Korean relations, Washington, D.C., Nov. 8, 2005

    Perhaps the ultimate Bushism:
“I’m honored to shake the hand of a brave Iraqi citizen who had his hand cut off by Saddam Hussein.”—Washington, D.C., May 25, 2004
